GHD's geotechnical engineering practice focuses on the application of our knowledge and understanding of ground behaviour to provide structures and infrastructure that are safe, reliable, cost effective and fulfill the needs of our diverse client network.

Geotechnical engineering is a unique combination of science, experience, judgement and a passion for understanding the uniqueness and variability of ground conditions resulting from the forces of nature.

It is the art of determining the properties of largely unseen and variable materials (soil, rock and groundwater) to provide infrastructure that performs as expected, at an acceptable level of risk and at optimal cost.

GHD has been a leader in this area for over 30 years, and is now one of Australasia's largest geotechnical practices, with over 70 specialist geoscience professionals: engineers, geologists, geophysicists and hydrogeologists. Our clients tap into a combined in-house experience base of over 1,000 person-years.

We combine common sense and state-of-the-art technology to develop creative solutions to problems big and small.
